The group that has expressed concerns about toxic chemicals dumped years ago at the former New York Air Brake site is urging residents to attend next week’s meeting with the state departments of Health and Environmental Conservation.

The public meetings Wednesday will allow residents to talk about their health problems and concerns over contamination at the site off Starbuck Avenue.

Representatives of DOH and DEC will meet privately first with a handful of north side residents who initiated the most recent questions about the site.

Then from 4 to 6 p.m. in the gymnasium at North Elementary School, 171 E. Hoard St., representatives of the two agencies will meet individually with residents who want to talk to them privately.

A public meeting from 7 to 9 p.m., also in the gym, will include a presentation on the history and status of the site and the possible future cleanup.

The departments will use the information gathered to re-evaluate whether there should be more testing.
