Golden Bears blank Wildcats in NAC girls soccer

CANTON — Lauren Smith and Kaili Frank each scored two goals to lead the Canton girls soccer team to a 5-0 win over Gouverneur in a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division game Wednesday.

Tori Daley also scored for Canton (6-4-1 overall, 5-2-1 division) and Hilary Wilcox made six saves for the shutout. The Wildcats fell to 2-6-4, 2-5-3.

HERMON-DEKALB 1, ST. REGIS FALLS 0

Chelsey McKay made five saves to shut out the Saints (0-12) as Hermon-DeKalb won a nonleague game in St. Regis Falls. Kasey O’Donnell scored the only goal for the Demons (7-4) on a penalty kick in the 28th minute.

SALMON RIVER 1, COLTON-PIERREPONT 0

Jaiden Mitchell scored on a pass from Taylor Francis in the 17th minute to lead the Shamrocks (2-8-1) past Colton-Pierrepont in a nonleague game in Fort Covington.

Sam Ghostlaw made seven saves to shut out the Colts (3-8-1).

CHATEAUGAY 1, MALONE 0

Makayla Fleury made nine saves to lead Chateaugay past the Huskies (3-7-1) in a nonleague game in Malone.

Courtney Boyea scored for the Bulldogs (12-0) from Stephanie Whyte in the 33rd minute.

BOYS SOCCER

EDWARDS-KNOX 5, CLIFTON-FINE 1

Kaden Dandrow scored twice as the Cougars defeated Clifton-Fine (0-9) in a West Division contest in Star Lake.

Derrick Cutway scored one goal and assisted on two others for the Cougars ((7-4, 7-3).

Chris Davison and Derrick Clark also scored for Edwards-Knox. Nate Aldrich scored for the Eagles.

CANTON 3, EDWARDS-KNOX 1

Kaeli Mace scored 10 points and had five kills as the Golden Bears earned a 25-21, 25-20, 16-25, 25-10 win over Edwards-Knox (4-9) in Canton.

Tara Facey scored 15 points with 10 assists and Cortney Marsh had six kills for Canton (8-4).

POTSDAM 3, GOUVERNEUR 0

Kelsey Travis scored 17 points to help the Sandstoners to a 25-10, 25-20, 25-12 sweep of Gouverneur (2-10) in Potsdam.

Katie Burke added 16 points and Sara Villamore scored 10 points with 18 kills for Potsdam (8-5).

OFA 3, MADRID-WADDINGTON 0

Brittany Barr scored 29 points, including 16 aces, to lead the Blue Devils (8-5) to a 25-8, 25-18, 25-14 sweep of Madrid-Waddington (1-11) in Ogdensburg.

Jade Case added 11 points for OFA and Felicia Barr produced 11 kills.

MALONE 3, TUPPER LAKE 0

Whitney Legacy’s 13 points helped the Huskies to a 25-22, 25-16, 25-13 sweep of Tupper Lake (2-10) in Malone. Janelle Heden scored 11 points for Malone (11-3).
