Part of the musical legacy that the late Levon Helm left behind will perform tonight at the Clayton Opera House, 405 Riverside Drive.

Helm, who died in April at age 71 after a long battle with cancer, was part of one of the most revered ensembles in rock history, the Band.

In the ’90s, his gutsy tenor voice was reduced to a croak because of throat cancer, but he re-emerged in the last decade as a revered elder statesman of American roots music. In 2007, he released the album “Dirt Farmer.” It won the 2008 Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album. Mr. Helm appeared at moe.down in Turin the same year.

The Dirt Farmer Band, based in Woodstock, home of Levon Helm Studios, performs at 7:30 tonight. The band consists of Mr. Helm’s daughter, Amy Helm (vocals, mandolin), former Bob Dylan sideman Larry Campbell (vocals, mandolin, fiddle, guitar), Teresa Williams (vocals, guitar), Justin Guip (drums) and Byron Isaacs (vocals, bass).

General admission tickets are $30 and reserved seats are $35.
