SYRACUSE — Katie Slate contributed three blocks, seven digs and 11 kills to pace Jefferson County Community College’s women’s volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Onondaga CC in a Mid-State Athletic Conference match on Wednesday.

The Cannoneers (9-4, 3-0) prevailed by scores of 25-17, 21-25, 25-23 and 25-21.

Ashley Capone chipped in with four blocks and 12 kills for JCC and Katie Peters totaled 13 service points and 22 digs.

MEN’S SOCCER

SUNY PLATTSBURGH 2, CLARKSON 0

The host Cardinals scored two goals six minutes apart in the second half to earn a nonconference victory over the Golden Knights.

Mike Payne tallied the first goal for SUNY Plattsburgh (8-0) from Matt Martin in the 70th minute. Tom Greene added his goal six minutes later from Nick Parrella.

Andy Heighington made three saves to shut out Clarkson (0-5-1).

Mohawk Valley CC 6, Jefferson CC 3

Admir Ramic scored three first-half goals to propel the Hawks (5-2) to the Region 3 win over the host Cannoneers.

Kemar Farquhuarson had a goal and two assists for JCC (1-5-1), while Andrew Guyette and Nick Barker also scored.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Mohawk Valley CC 5, Jefferson CC 1

The visiting Hawks scored all of their goals in the second half to beat the Cannoneers in a Region 3 game.

Meghan Carlo and Jacqueline Masionave each recorded a goal and an assist for Mohawk Valley (8-1), ranked third in the nation.

Morgan Kiernan scored in the 23rd minute for JCC (3-3). JCC goalie Amber Dibble made nine saves.

CAZENOVIA 1, SUNY CANTON 0

Breanne Warner stopped all nine shots she faced as Cazenovia blanked the Kangaroos (4-4) in a nonconference game in Canton.

Emily Graham scored the only goal for Cazenovia (5-2-1) in the 70th minute from Ciera Sportello.
