Cyclones blank Cavaliers in FL boys soccer

Shayne Watson scored a goal and had a standout game at midfield as the Watertown boys soccer team blanked host Immaculate Heart Central, 3-0, for a Frontier League “A” Division win on Thursday.

Tyrell Thomas and Kenny Schimpf also provided goals for the Cyclones (4-1, 3-0). Noah Taylor anchored a strong defensive effort with five saves.

Jarrod Smith turned aside seven shots for the Cavaliers (3-1).

INDIAN RIVER 7, SANDY CREEK 0

Junior Malinoski scored two goals and assisted on two others to propel the Warriors to a crossover triumph in Sandy Creek.

Erick Torres tallied the first goal of the game for Indian River (5-1, 4-0) and Kyle Smith registered a goal and an assist.

Jacob LaClair (two saves) and Brady Bombard (one save) combined in goal for Indian River. Corey Reff made 16 saves for the Comets (0-3, 0-3).

LOWVILLE 5, LAFARGEVILLE 1

Noak Akberg scored two goals and registered an assist as the Red Raiders remained unbeaten with a crossover victory in LaFargeville.

Kody Rosales and Jordan Zehr each chipped in with a goal and an assist for Lowville (4-0, 4-0).

Elijah Huntley scored the lone goal for the Red Knights (1-2, 1-2).

CARTHAGE 3, SOUTH JEFFERSON 2

Tyler Biolsi scored the game-winning goal in the 69th minute and Chris DeRonda tallied a goal and an assist as the Comets edged the Spartans in a crossover game.

Gabe Acosta also scored for Carthage (2-1, 2-1) and goalie Sebastian Fountain made 10 saves to record the win.

Jordan Schloop and Bradley LaLone each scored for South Jefferson (1-3, 1-3), and goalie William Beese finished with 14 stops.

COPENHAGEN 3, THOUSAND ISLANDS 1

Travis Clarke scored the deciding goal in the 61st minute and added an assist as the Golden Knights prevailed in a crossover game.

Brendan Jacobs and Breven Jacobs also tallied for Copenhagen (3-0, 3-0). Goalie Kody Petrus made six saves to earn the win.

Scott McKain scored a goal for the Vikings (1-2, 1-2).

SOUTH LEWIS 2, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 1

Reilly Baker scored a goal and then assisted on Nick Arrigo’s game-winning tally in the second half as the Falcons (1-4, 1-4) edged the Panthers in a crossover encounter.

Chris Hernandez scored a goal for Belleville Henderson (0-4, 0-4).

LYME 3, BEAVER RIVER 1

Mark Parker scored the game-winning goal off a kickoff to give the Indians a crossover win over the Beavers in Chaumont.

Parker had two goals for Lyme (2-2). Sam Liakovitch added a goal and an assist.

Hunter Nortz netted a goal for Beaver River (0-2).

SACKETS HARBOR 3, ALEXANDRIA 3 (2 OT)

Ethan Dillabough deflected a Vinny Augliano free kick in the 70th minute as the Patriots scratched out a tie with the Purple Ghosts (3-0-1) in a “D” Division game at Alexandria Bay.

The goal nullified a hat trick by Alexandria’s Ian Kearns.

Dillabough also contributed two assists for Sackets Harbor (2-1-1).

GIRLS SWIMMING

WATERTOWN 102, CARTHAGE 79

Samantha Favret, Brittney Thesier and Julia Marilley each recorded three victories as Watertown won a North “A” Division meet in Carthage.

Favret captured the 50-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke and swam on the winning 200 medley relay for the Cyclones (2-1, 2-0). Thesier won the 100 breaststroke and participated on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Marilley took the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley and appeared on the 200 medley relay. Bree Jefferds won the 100 freestyle and swam on the 200 medley relay for Watertown.
