WEST CARTHAGE- Rachel (Nevills) Stiner, 83, formerly of 73 Champion Street, West Carthage died on Monday, September 10, 2012 at The Carthage Area Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Stiner was born on September 25, 1928, in the Town of Champion,the daughter of the late Frank and Vera Harris Nevills Twining. She graduated from West Carthage High School in 1946.
She married George L. Stiner on August 3, 1947 in the Methodist Parsonage in Great Bend, New York. She was a member of the United Community Church in Carthage.
Before retirement she was employed as a receptionist for Dr. Burton Silver.
She is survived by five children, Betty and her husband Richard Carroll, Syracuse; Jane and her husband Brian Morrow, Gouverneur; Cindy and her husband Gary Miterko, Webster, N.Y.; Amy Rigabor, West Carthage; and Mary Boulio, West Carthage; and 14 Grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Leslie Nevills, Carthage.
She is predeceased by her husband George, who died on Aprill 22, 2006, a son, Robert George and several brothers, Arthur, Harry, Leon, and Harold (Robert) Nevills and a sister, Hazel Martin.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage. A Funeral Service will held at 3:15pm in the Chapel of the Funeral Home with The Reverend Samuel P. Lundy, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Champion.
