Jefferson County sheriffs Detective Gary M. Belch, 46, was treated for neck pains at Samaritan Medical Center after his departmental car was struck in the rear by another auto Monday afternoon in the 400 block of Coffeen Street.
City police said the detective stopped in a line of westbound traffic when shortly after 3:35 p.m. his vehicle was struck by a car driven by Kendra R. Gloden, 24, Rodman. She told an officer she failed to see the stopped traffic because she was picking up her purse and some contents that had fallen to the floor.
Ms. Gloden was cited with following to close.
