CANTON — Eric J. Walrath, 33, of 7 Jones Road, Lot 13, Massena, was charged at 9:25 a.m. Saturday by St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies with forgery and failure to register a change of address as a sex offender.

Deputies said they began investigating Mr. Walrath’s whereabouts on Aug. 3, when they realized he had vacated his previous address on County Route 6.

On Aug. 6, Mr. Walrath registered his change of address at St. Lawrence County jail, saying he had moved to his Jones Road address July 30; according to deputies, he actually moved to the new address July 15.

He is being held in the jail without bail and is scheduled to appear in Canton Town Court.
