CARTHAGE A 17 year-old village youth was spending his fourth day in jail Thursday after being charged by Carthage police with choking his father.
Grant W. Spence, 311 Brown St., was arrested Monday morning on a charge of criminal obstruction of breath and blood circulation. Village Justice S. Lucille Shettleton set bail at $500, sending him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown.
Police said he entered his fathers bedroom at least twice early Monday morning to attempt to remove a computer. When his father, Donald Spence, 51, acted to stop his son, police said the youth punched him, knocked him to the floor, jumped on him, and placed him in a choke hold.
