Marlene A. Schmeer died August 2, at her home in Hatboro, Pennsylvania.
She was born 9/18/1933 in Rochester, NY, daughter of Theodore and Evelyn Wilcox, graduated from Nazareth High School in 1951 and married Edward Bud Schmeer same year. Lived in San Diego and Guam during her husbands service in the U.S. Navy then moved to Cape Vincent, NY in 1954. Together with her husband, owned and operated Cape Shop clothing store in Cape Vincent, Gregors tackle shop in Cape Vincent, and Schmeers Apparel in Clayton. Buds and Marlenes 4 sons - Kurt, Kyle, Mark, and David - are graduates of Thousand Islands High School.
A nationally renowned skeet and trap shooter, Marlene was multi-time NY State Champion as well as 8-time captain of the NY State womens team. In 2001, Marlene became the second woman ever inducted into the New York State Trap and Skeet Hall of Fame.
Survived by her beloved four sons and their wives plus 12 much adored grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM August 8, at St. Vincent of Paul Church, Cape Vincent, with Father Pierre Aubin pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Vincent of Paul Cemetery. Calling hours will be, 6 – 8, August 7, at the Cleveland Funeral Home, Cape Vincent.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in Marlenes name to Hospice of Jefferson County.
