UNLAWFULLY GROWING CANNABIS - MASSENA - A police officer responding to a security alarm resulted into a drug charge for a Massena man.
A village patrolman responded to 154 North Main Street for a report of a rear entrance alarm and when he arrived he found two marijuana plants growing in flower pots on the back porch. Police later learned the alarm was several blocks away at 154 Main St.
Police pulled the marijuana plants out of the flower pots and replaced them with a courtesy note pointing out they had done a property check at the residence and asked the homes occupant to call police.
They later charged Daniel P. Robertson, 33, of 154 North Main St., Massena, with unlawfully growing cannabis.
I was originally using the flower pots to grow some marijuana in which I acquired the seeds about two to three months ago. When contacted by Ptl. (Travis) MacDonald, I admitted to him that the marijuana plants were indeed mine and that I was growing them at my residence, he noted in his statement to police.
