RESISTING ARREST - POTSDAM -Village police charged Gerardo D. Perez, 35, of Madrid with resisting arrest, two counts of second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct at 11:03p.m. Saturday on Market Street. He was arraigned by Acting Potsdam Village Justice Margaret Garner and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.

Police said they observed Perez yelling obscenities and acting disorderly in front of McDuff’s on Market Street. Patrol made contact with the suspect, and he continued to act disorderly. Police said when they took Perez into custody, he resisted arrest and refused to cooperate, which also led to the harassment charges.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - MASSENA - Village police charged Benjamin D. Miller III, 16, of 8 James St., Massena, with criminal obstruction of breathing, aggravated harassment, second-degree harassment, trespassing and five counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief following a domestic dispute reported at 11:15 a.m. Sunday.

Police said Miller went to the home of his ex-girlfriend, Deanna Peterson, 19, at 18 Amherst Road and attempted to leave the residence with her child. When she told him he couldn’t take the child, he reportedly grabbed Peterson by the throat and pushed her against a wall. Peterson’s mother was able to separate Miller from her daughter. While on the property, Mitchell kicked and broke the front door, punched and damaged siding on the house, threw and broke a new push lawnmower, damaged the mailbox and punched and left dents in the hood and passenger side door of the mother’s vehicle. He also sent Ms. Peterson a text saying he was going to kill her and slit her throat, according to court documents.

Miller was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. The court also signed a temporary order oif protection directed Miller to stay away from Ms. Peterson, her mother and their residence.

Miller reportedly went to Ms. Peterson’s house and when he was on the front porch stated that he wanted to take her nine-month-old son with him. She told police the violence started when she and her mother both told Miller he was not leaving with the child.

“Benjamin became upset and grabbed me by the throat, trying to choke me, and pushed my head against the front door,” she said in her statement to police, noting he then went on a tirade, punching and breaking several items on the porch and in the yard.

“Benjamin also keeps telling me he is going to kidnap my son because he believes (the child) is his son,” she added.

DWI - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Jacqeline L. Powless, 39, of 103 Hayden Ave., Syracuse, with driving while intoxicated and failure to take a roadside breath test following an incident at 4:01 a.m. Sunday on Trippany Road. She was also ticketed for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Troopers said they responded to the Trippany Road location after receiving a domestic dispute complaint. They said when they arrived on the scene they met Powless.

Court documents indicated Powless responded affirmatively when asked if she had driven to Trippany Road. But she later changed her recollection saying she had been dropped off on Trippany Road after being asked to take the field sobriety tests.

She refused to take the roadside breath tests, but she later took a breathalyzer test at the state police station in Massena. She reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.14 percent. A blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent of higher constitutes a driving while intoxicated charge.

Powless was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $500 cash.

PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Village police charged Jessica J. Davison, 24, and Rachel A. Saxby, 25, both of 101 Andrews St., Apt. 3, Massena, with petit larceny Sunday. The two women are charged with stealing $200 from the vehicle of Randy Guyette, Pink Schoolhouse Road, Canton. The incident took place at approximately 7:45 p.m. July 19. Both women were released on appearance tickets.

PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - A Massena man charged with stealing a television early Saturday morning from a campsite at the Robert Moses State Park has been jailed with bail set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.

New York State Park Police charged Steven M. Jandreau, 19, of 151 Water St., Massena. He was charged with stealing a 32-inch RCA television from a camper’s exterior cabinet belonging to Lawrence W. Labarge.

The second petit larceny count stemmed from an arrest warrant issued in March alleging Jandreau had shoplifted a container of maple syrup, valued at $7.29, from Hannaford’s on Oct. 12.

Jandreau was arraigned on the two misdemeanor counts by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.

Jandreau, in a statement he provided to park police, said he had been walking around the campground at approximately 4 a.m. Saturday when he saw a camper with an outside door open. He said he saw the television when he flashed his light on the cubby.

Jandreau said he grabbed the television and took it back to his campsite. “The next morning I put the tv in the trunk of the car and wrapped it with blankets and other stuff so my father would not see it,” he said.

He said he snuck the television into his home later that day when they went into town to get supplies. “I set the tv on the counter in the kitchen,” Jandreau told police, noting he and his dad then left and returned to the campgrounds.

He said he was approached by a park police officer shortly after returning to the campgrounds. “I was asked if I took or knew who took the tv. I told the police officer that I took the tv. I made a mistake, had too much to drink and took the tv. It was stupid move,” Jandreau said in the statement he reportedly provided to park police.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - MASSENA - Village police charged Joshua P. White, 30, of 118 Bishop Ave., Massena, with fourth-degree criminal mischief Sunday afternoon. Police said they received a call reporting the domestic dispute at 12:32 p.m. Sunday. The couple were reportedly arguing over money and when Crystal St. John attempted to leave the residence, White responded by letting the air out of her vehicle’s tires. White was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $500 cash or $1,000 bail. The court also signed a temporary order of protection directing White to stay away from Ms. St. John.

Ms. St. John said she was at the town beach shortly afternoon noon Sunday when she received a phone call from White demanding she return home with chew for him within 15 minutes of he would smashing her television and other items. She said she left the beach, bought White some chew and drive home.

“I gave him the chew, and he told me to give him money. I told him I wasn’t giving him any money,” she noted in the statement she signed for police.

White then reportedly jumped on her vehicle, denting the hood. “While he was on the hood, he reached down with a box cutter and let the air our of my front driver side tire,” she said in the statement she signed for police.

SPEEDING - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Zachary A. Baldwin, 18, of County Route 49, Fort Jackson, with speed in zone following a traffic stop at 10:39 a.m. Sunday on the South Racquette River Road.

OPEN CONTAINER - MASSENA - Village police charged Timothy L. LaMay, 37, of 1597 County Route 36, Norfolk, with an open container violation at 1:24 a.m. Sunday on Water Street.

OPEN CONTAINER - MASSENA - Village police charged Bradley J. Parker, 38, of 6 Ober St., Massena, with an open container violation at 2 a.m. Sunday on Center Street.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Village police charged James I Paquin, 25, of 351 East Orvis St., Massena, with unlawful possession of marijuana at 12:02 a.m. Sunday on East Orvis Street.

NO LIGHT FOR BIKE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed James B. Lavalley, 57, of Massena with operating a bicycle with no light following a traffic stop at 10:26 p.m. Saturday on Bishop Avenue.

FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Enrico J. Bianchi, 19, of Riverside Parkway, Massena, with following too closely and failure to use turn signal following an incident at 1:58 p.m. Saturday on state Route 37.

AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION - MASSENA - Village police charged Steven Rodriguez, 22, of 90 East Hatfield St., Apt. 40, Massena, with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor following a traffic stop at 1:21 p.m. Saturday on Main Street. He was also charged with operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.

NO INSURANCE - MASSENA - Village police charged Leevonder M. Domino, 69, of 129 Reagan Flats Road, Bombay, with operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and operation of an unregistered motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 12:23 p.m. Saturday on East Hatfield Street.

SPEEDING - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Scott A. Derouchie, 33, of Maple Ridge Road, Brasher, for speed in zone following a traffic stop at 11:38 a.m. Saturday on the South Racquette River Road.

UNINSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Timothy J. Herne, 21, of Rooseveltown for operation of an uninspected motor vehicle and failure to signal following a traffic stop at 2:57 p.m. Saturday on Main Street.

NO INSURANCE - MASSENA - Village police charged D.R. Thomas-Jandrew, 36, of 144 South Racquette River Road, Massena, with operation of an insured motor vehicle and operation of a vehicle with a suspended registration following a traffic stop at 3:24 p.m. Saturday on East Hatfield Street.

SPEEDING - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Ryan N. Degon, 28, of Taylor Road, Malone, for speed in zone following a traffic stop at 8:40 a.m. Saturday on the Willow Street Extension.

OPEN CONTAINER - MASSENA - Village police charged Jarrett J. Phillips, 22, of 58 Grove St., Massena, with an open container violation at 10:40 p.m. Thursday on North Main Street.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - NORFOLK - Massena-based state police charged Sara B. Varney, 25, of 4 River Road, Norfolk, with harassment and fourth-degree criminal mischief (damage greater than $250) Friday.

She is accused of breaking the rear window of a truck belonging to her boyfriend, Travis Fuller, as well as spitting in his face during a dispute on July 19.

She is scheduled to appear in Norfolk Town Court.

PETIT LARCENY - MADRID - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged Sasha S. Beckstead, 22, of 841 County Route 38, Norfolk, with petit larceny Saturday afternoon stemming from an investigation into an incident that took place two months ago.

Beckstead is accused of stealing jewelry from a relative in Madrid on May 8 and selling it to a jewelry store.

She is scheduled to appear in Madrid Town Court.

PETIT LARCENY - POTSDAM - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged Thomas M. Larose, 44, 1513 Ford St., Ogdensburg, with petit larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy Friday.

Larose is accused of stealing a Swann security system from the Walmart in Potsdam on June 3 with the assistance of an unknown female. He was picked up by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department on an arrest warrant and turned over to deputies in St. Lawrence County.

Larose was arraigned by Potsdam Town Justice Sam Charleston and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000 cash.

PETIT LARCENY - LOUISVILLE - Massena-based state police charged Clinton R. Bowley, 28, of Chase Mills with two counts of petit larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief Friday evening following an investigation into an incident reported at 4:40 p.m. July 23 from the town of Louisville.

DWI - WINTHROP - Massena-based state police charged Amy D. Irwin, 42, of Brasher with driving while intoxicated and ticketed her for an equipment violation - failure to dim lights and failure to signal a turn following a traffic stop at 11:16 p.m. Friday on state Route 11C at U.S. Route 11 in Stockholm Center. Troopers reported her blood alcohol content was 0.09 percent. A blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent constitutes a driving while intoxicated charge.

DWI - BOMBAY - Massena-based state police charged Jolene A. Garrow, 20, of Hogansburg with driving while intoxicated, operation of a vehicle with a suspended registration and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 3:49 a.m. Saturday on state Route 37 in the town of Bombay.

DWI - MADRID - Massena-based state police charged Thomas J. Scovil, 30, of Potsdam with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop at 4:16 a.m. Saturday on County Route 14 in the town of Madrid. He was also ticketed for an equipment violation - inadeqaute exhaust and failure to keep right. He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.12 percent.

PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENT - WESTVILLE - Malone-based state police said two people were injured in a one-vehilce accident at 6:46 p.m. Friday on state Route 122, near Bird Road, in the town of Westville. Troopers said the vehicle was operated by Edward J. Gilbo, 54, of Massena.

CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - Malone-based state police charged Tony J. Niles, 26, of Constable with second-degree criminal contempt Friday evening following an investigation into an incident reported at 4:35 p.m. June 20 from the town of Westville.

FORCIBLE TOUCHING - MOIRA - Malone-based state police charged Mark W. Eseltine, 34, of Bombay with forcible touchng and endangering the welfare of a child following an incident reported at 1:02 p.m. Friday from the town of Moira.

PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT - BOMBAY - Malone-based state police investigated a property damage accident at 5:26 p.m. Friday on Scanlon Road near County Route 4 in the town of Bombay. Troopers said the vehicle was operated by Wallace F. Jock, 48, of Bombay.
