The Thousand Island Privateers have signed forward Matt Atsoff and goalie Peter Dundovich for their 2012-13 Federal Hockey League season, the team announced Thursday.
The 25-year-old centerman comes to the Privateers after spending last season with the Brooklyn Aviators of the FHL, where he totaled 31 points in 31 games before a late-season injury ended his campaign. A native of Macomb, Mich., Atsoff tallied 99 points in 90 games collegiately over four seasons at Division III UMass-Boston.
(Atsoff) possesses a great shot and is not afraid to mix it up in front of the net, Thousand Islands coach Paul Kelly said.
Dundovich, a Philadelphia native who appeared in five games with the Privateers last season, will back up starting goalie Matt Anthony. Both will provide the team with a great one-two punch in the net, Kelly said.
The Privateers will open their season by hosting the Cape Cod Bluefins on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7:35 p.m. at the Watertown Municipal Arena.
