Depauville- Mrs. Mary L. Getman, age 86, a resident of the Samaritan Keep Home the past 5 years, died Thursday at the Samaritan Medical Center. There will be no calling hours or funeral. There will be a graveside committal service Monday at 1pm at St. Lawrence Union Cemetery in the Town of Cape Vincent.
Mary was born April 18, 1926 in Clayton the daughter of George and Erma Ingerson Brigham. She attended Watertown schools. She married Robert Getman May 18, 1946 in Cape Vincent. Bob died April 6, 2010 at age 89.
Mary worked for Bagley and Sewills as an inspector for a time in Watertown. She was a member of the Depauville Methodist Church and the past chief of the Depauville Fire Departments Lady Auxiliary. Besides being an avid bingo player, Mary enjoyed going to rummage sales and auctions. In 2010 she was name Ms. Samaritan Keep Home.
Surviving is her daughter Carol Black of Depauville; one grandson Scott and his wife Tina of Depauville; two great-grandchildren Brittny and Cameron; one brother Robert and his wife Mariko of Las Vegas; two sister and their husbands Linda (George) Scales of Depauville and Florence (Roger) Lewis of Iowa; one brother-in-law Gilbert Pickett of Watertown and a sister-in-law Rene of Watertown; nieces and nephews.
One son-in-law Leo Black died in 2011. One sister Francis Pickett and one brother Junior died before her.
Donations may be made in her name to the 6th Floor Resident Fund at the Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, NY or to TIERS in Clayton, NY.
