OGDENSBURG – After losing their home in a fire, a family of nine is need of food, clothing and basic necessities.
The fire happened at around 11 a.m. on Thursday at 610 Gates St., the home of William J. Larock, Christina McGuire and their seven children.
The fire started in the second floor front bedroom of the familys two-story home, and was put out by the citys fire deparment at approximately 1 p.m. No one was harmed, but the family is still need of personal care items, according to Ogdensburg Neighboorhood Center Director Patti M. Conger.
Fire victims are first and foremost top priority on our list, said Mrs. Conger. You dont know when something like this is going to strike someone you know. Were trying to collect as much as we can to relieve stress for the family and for them to know that there is support out there.
The kids have lost their bedding, their clothes - everything, said Debra J. Montgomery, friend of the family.
The Neighborhood Center, 330 Ford St, and St. Lawrence County the St. Lawrence County Community Development Program, Community Action Angels, Canton, are working together to collect food, clothing and basic necessities for the family.

St. Lawrence County CDP Community Action Angels Coordinator Alicia Murphy said the family needs high-protein items such as peanut butter, tuna and beans. Enfamil formula, baby food for stages 2 and 3, size 2 and 5 diapers, personal care items, mens pants size 34 x32 inches, mens shirts in size extra large, womens pants, size 38 x 32 inches, womens shirts in size large. Boys clothing in sizes 10, 7, 4T, 3T, 12-18 months, 6-9 months, and 3-6 months; girls clothing in sizes 3T & 4T. Gift Cards will also be accepted.
In the future, Ms. Murphy said they will need dishes, glasses, cookware, silverware, small appliances, bedding, towels, childrens toys and books, as well as furniture.
Donations may be dropped off at St. Lawrence Community Development Program, 1 Commerce St., Canton, or at the Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center, 330 Ford St. For more information contact Mrs. Conger at 393-5561 or Ms. Murphy at 386-1102 x27.
