Elizabeth A. “Betty” Jones, 88, Cooper St., Watertown, passed away Friday at the Carthage Area Hospital. She had been a resident at the Country Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carthage, for the past 18 months.

She was born in Watertown, August 14, 1923, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Barcombe Randall. Betty married John Jones December 15, 1946.

Betty worked at Pine Camp (now Ft. Drum) following her high school education, and at the J.B. Wise Co.. She went to work at Faichney’s / Cheseborogh Ponds of Watertown for many years as a thermometer reader until retiring.

Betty was a volunteer at the Sacred Heart rectory and at the church Bingo games. She enjoyed playing darts, bingo, and crocheting. She rode jet skis at age 85. In her younger years, Betty enjoyed playing softball.

She married John Jones, December 15, 1946.

Besides her husband John, Cooper St., she is survived by a daughter Sandra (Kenneth) Hayes, Theresa. Two grandchildren, Kenneth Hayes II and Johnna Hayes and a great grandson Kaleb Hayes. A brother Norman (Phyllis) Randall, Watertown. Nieces and nephews. Two sisters, 6 brothers and two infants predeceased her.

The funeral will be 4 pm Sunday, July 15th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Calling hours will be from 2 pm - 3:45 pm prior to the funeral on Sunday. Burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
