OGDENSBURG After a flurry of activity over the past two months, the Port of Ogdensburg is readying for its last shipments of wind turbine components.
There are two more trains coming in and one more ship, said Wade A. Davis, executive director of the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority. We still have quite a bit of outbound cargo.
Mr. Davis said the port expects its final ship between July 22 and 25.
The turbines will continue to leave the port by truck, bound for the Marble River Wind Farm Project in Churubusco.
Were pleased to see the economic impact on the region from this project, including the port improvements, which will bring us additional business in the future, which creates more jobs, Mr. Davis said.
Last month, the authoritys board of directors expressed concern that future wind projects might be in jeopardy if Congress allows the Obama administrations wind energy tax credits to expire.
