Democrat Amy Tresidder has submitted petitions to get on the Working Families Party line in her Nov. 6 race against state Sen. Patricia A. Ritchie.

Mrs. Tresidder, a county legislator from Oswego, submitted 14 pages of petitions.

It's a break from the last Democrat who ran in the 48th Senate District against Mrs. Ritchie, R-Heuvelton.

Then-Sen. Darrel Aubertine, D-Cape Vincent, declined to seek the party's line in 2010 because of apparent opposition to the party's stance on farmworkers' rights. That was also amid an investigation of WFP practices, which ultimately did not lead to charges being filed.

The labor-backed party typically supports Democratic candidates. Assemblywoman Addie Russell, D-Theresa, and Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, have also filed petitions to get on the WFP line.

In his 2008 race and Republican David Renzi, Mr. Aubertine received almost 4,000 votes on the WFP line.
