Jeffrey Thomas Colson, Sr., 50, originally of Carthage, passed away at his residence in Moyock, NC on July 7, 2012. A graduate of Carthage Central High School, he answered his countrys call to service, joining the United States Navy in 1983. After serving for twenty years, including during the Persian Gulf War and Operation Enduring Freedom, he retired as a Chief Petty Officer with an honorable discharge in 2003.
After his retirement, Jeffrey worked training our countrys police forces with Blackwater USA (now Academi). Aside from his work, he was also an avid motorcyclist and a devoted Catholic.
He was predeceased by his father, Howard, of Watertown. He is survived by his wife, Kristine (Schwendy) Colson, originally of Naumburg; his mother, Linda (King) (Colson) Doney, of Florida; two brothers, Ralph and Timothy, of Florida; three sons, Jeffrey, Jr. and Justin Colson of Florida and Joshua (Colson) Roth-Colson of Arkansas; one daughter, Jazmine (Colson) Herring, of Georgia; and one grandson, Lucas Herring.
Funeral arrangements with military honors have not yet been finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to memorialize Jeffreys life make donations to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
