GOUVERNEUR, NY (FULLERVILLE) ~ Robert J. Clement, 69, of 1179 County Rt. 24, Fullerville, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at E. J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur, where he was taken after being stricken at home.

Born July 22, 1942, in Croghan, NY, a son of Elwood and Luella Phelps Clement, he was educated in Gouverneur schools.

He married Linda A. Ritz on September 30, 1961, at St. Francis Solanus Church in Harrisville.

As a young man Bob worked as a logger throughout the North Country and also at the Massena Locks. In the late 1960’s, he went to work for the St. Joe Lead Company in Balmat, from where he retired after 27 years. He also had worked for the Purcell Construction Company, Watertown, for a number of years.

Throughout his life, Bob extremely enjoyed fishing, joking with anyone, doing word seek puzzles, flower and garden tending, bowling in his younger years, and above all, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also an ardent NY Knicks fan.

He was a communicant of St. Francis Solanus church in Harrisville, and was a former member of the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving besides his wife of nearly 51 years, are his children, Dianne L., and companion Derek Collier, Tammy M. and Dwight Hubbard, Joseph R. and companion Kim LaRock, Brenda and Mark Miller, Brad E. and Lisa Colburn, all of Gouverneur, and Brian J. and Aimee Clement, of Harrisville; fourteen grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Warren and Beverly Clement, both of Gouverneur, and Martha Benjamin, of Buffalo; two brothers, Elwood Clement of Buffalo, and George Clement, of Star Lake, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Francis Solanus Church in Harrisville, with the Rev. Robert L. Decker, Pastor, officiating. The family will receive family and friends at the church prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to any Cancer or Heart Association.
