NICHOLVILLE Cornell Cooperative Extension associations throughout Northern New York are carpooling Wednesday for an evening tour at Pineland Farms Natural Meats. The free tour begins at 7 p.m. at the farm on Mosher Road.
For departure times and carpooling opportunities, call Extension agents Ron Kuck, 788-8450, for Jefferson and Lewis counties, and Betsy F. Hodge, 379-9192, for St. Lawrence County.
The tour will give farmers a chance to learn about the company that is buying local cattle to finish for both fresh and packaged beef products. Farmers who sell to Pineland will be on the tour to discuss their experiences.
Pineland, New Gloucester, Maine, has converted the former Agway heifer-raising facility for its beef-finishing operation.
