Charles D. Thomas, 90, formerly of 154 Dorsey St., Watertown, passed July 6,2012 at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where he had been a resident since Feb. 9, 2006.

Burial with military honors will be held at the cemetery for family members.There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are with Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

He was born on April 15, 1922 in Adams Center, NY, son of Clarron and Ella Briggs Thomas.

He entered the U.S. Army on Nov. 2, 1942 and served during WWII. He was honorably discharged as a Tech 5 on Feb. 14, 1946 receiving the WWII Victory Medal, American Theater Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

While serving in the U.S. Army he was stationed in Green Bay, WI where he married Harriet Rita Kaminski on November 17, 1945 at her parent’s family farm. The couple moved to Northern NY following his honorable discharge and resided in Sackets Harbor for nine years, moving to Watertown in 1958.

Mr. Thomas was a baker at the Arlington Bakery in Watertown for 30 years. He was a member of the Watertown Elks Lodge #496, Life Member of the American Legion Sackets Harbor. Member of the American Contract Bridge League and Gold Life Master member of Northern New York Duplicate Bridge Club. Loved playing poker with friends and shooting pool.

His wife, Harriet, passed August 20, 2001.

Among his survivors are four daughters and two sons in laws, Darlene M. Thomas and Diana T. Thomas both of Las Vegas, NV, Susan M. and Glenn Manning, Tallahassee, FL, Elizabeth L. and Michael Bourcy, Dexter, NY; three sons and their wives, Theodore A. and Linda Thomas, Watertown, James M. and Lori Thomas, Adams Center, Peter M. and Kelly Thomas, Watertown; 12 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Also survived by Sister-in-Law Thelma Thomas, Sackets Harbor.Three brothers, Glenn, Ren and Clarence Thomas and a sister, Vera Gage all died before him.
