ADAMS Chad M. Gaffney, 29, of 18027 First St., Lot 16, was charged Tuesday by Jefferson County sheriffs deputies with second-degree assault, second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.
It is alleged that at about 2 p.m. Sunday at his residence he spit in the face of his wife, Whitney, and struck her in the head with an unspecified dangerous instrument, causing a cut above her left eyebrow that required stitches. It is alleged the incident occurred with a 1-year-old child nearby.
Mr. Gaffney was arraigned in Adams Town Court and ordered held without bail at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown. He was sentenced in February 2007 to a prison term of up to four years for third-degree burglary. He was out of prison in January 2008 when he was charged with a parole violation, and was returned to state custody. His sentence concluded in December 2010, according to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision website.
