AMSTERDAM Ed Charlton slammed his league-leading sixth home run of the season as the Amsterdam Mohawks defeated the Watertown Wizards for the second straight night, 6-3, in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game Saturday at Shuttleworth Park.
Amsterdam (18-3) has won 17 of its last 18 games, including seven in a row. Amsterdam beat Watertown 10-4 on Friday night.
Mohawks starter Mark Leiter, Jr. struck out six in six innings. Leiter is the son of Mark Leiter and the nephew of Al Leiter, both former major league pitchers.
Nathan Gomez drove in a pair of runs with a single in the bottom of the third.
Cole Gleason went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Watertown (8-13). Riley Norton also had a pair of hits and an RBI.
Ryan Dunn was the losing pitcher for the Wizards.
Watertown returns home today to face the second-place Newark Pilots at 5 p.m. at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.
