VEHICLE FIRE - PIERREPONT - A 1994 Chevy Suburban van was destroyed in a vehicle fire early Saturday morning, but firefighters are being credited with stopping the blaze before it spread to the garage and nearby home.

Pierrepont and Colton firefighters and Canton Rescue were toned out to the fire at 12:28 a.m. Saturday at 62 Post Road, property owend by Molly Johnson.

Firefighters said the cause of the vehicle fire remains under investigation. There was reportedly limited damage to the garage, but fire investigators credited the frefighters with taking action that saved the garage and nearby house.
