PLESSIS — A Plessis man was charged Thursday night with second-degree assault after state police say he struck another man with a baseball bat.

Shannon T. Nguyen, 23, also is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and harassment. He was released without bail by Alexandria Town Justice Lewis H. Perry Jr. to await possible grand jury action.

Police identified the assault victim as Edward Roberts, 39, but no information was available about his injuries. His brother, Phillip Roberts, 35, was the complainant on the harassment charge, police said.
