An Onondaga County man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he was injured in an accident early Sunday at Route 3 and Hessel Road in the town of Ellisburg.

Craig M. Kopp, 25, Jordan, also faces charges of consuming an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle, failing to use a designated lane and driving on the shoulder.

State police said he was treated at Samaritan Medical Center for head and neck injuries following the 3:30 a.m. accident.

He was southbound on Route 3 when he failed to negotiate a curve, troopers claimed, and the vehicle went off the road and struck trees. Blood was drawn at the hospital for determination of his blood alcohol content, troopers said.

Also charged with DWI and related offenses:

■ Luis A. Espino, 24, of 28373 Pheasant Run, Evans Mills, was charged by Watertown police at 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Arsenal Street with aggravated DWI.

Police said he had a breath test reading of 0.25 percent BAC. Under state law, the threshold for DWI is 0.08 percent. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more.

He also was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, consuming an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle, using a mobile phone while driving and having inadequate taillights.

■ Tommie H. Rand, 60, Buffalo, also was charged by state park police with failing to keep right at 11 p.m. Friday on Route 12 in the town of Clayton.

His BAC was 0.12 percent, police said.

■ Patrick L. Violette, 51, Utica, was charged by state park police at 1:20 a.m. Sunday on Riverside Drive, Clayton, where he also was cited with a stop-sign infraction.

His BAC was 0.16 percent, police said.

■ Albert F. Cheney, 66, of 74 Pickle St., Stockholm, was charged by state police at 5:16 p.m. Monday on Needham Road, town of Stockholm.

His BAC was 0.08 percent, troopers said.

Charged with boating while intoxicated:

■ Stanley L. Ryczek Jr., 56, Utica, was charged by state park police at 8 p.m. Friday on the St. Lawrence River within the village of Alexandria Bay limits. His BAC was 0.09 percent, police said.
