WEST CARTHAGE — Village officials have hired staff members and are prepared to begin the summer recreation program July 2 at Donald F. Getman Memorial Park, Franklin Street.

Registration for the program will be from 4 to 6 p.m. June 28 and 29 at the park, but children may be registered anytime during the summer.

The program, for children ages 5 to 15, is held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, with snacks and lunch provided through the Community Action Planning Council.

The program will not be held July 4.

The summer recreation program, which includes sports, arts and crafts and field trips, is held regardless of weather. Later in the summer, the children take a trip to Enchanted Forest/Water Safari, Old Forge.
