This community should be very proud to have such great individuals as Don Boshart, Mel and Rose Busler to lead the Jefferson County American Cancer Society Relay for Life program. With the help of several other great volunteers on the committee, they continually make the Jefferson County Relay one of the best and highest fundraising counties in the country.

Through the year they put in countless hours to help and coordinate over 70 Relay teams, that raise over $300,000 annually for the American Cancer Society.

Cancer is a horrible disease that, sooner or later, affects almost every family, and the funds raised help these families, sponsor research for a cure and promote prevention. Cancer will not be defeated in one magical “wave of a wand,” but just think how far treatment, prevention and awareness has come in the last 20 to 30 years.

This year’s Relay at the fairgrounds was another great success to another year of the long process of, hopefully, eliminating cancer in our family’s future. Thanks to all of the great teams in the county, and especially to Don, Mel and Rose.
