MASSENA - Village police, Massena Fire and the Massena Rescue Squad responded to two personal injury accidents within an hour stretch Friday morning in the village.
Police ticketed Carrie Lynn Durant, 22, of Moira for failure to yield the right of way and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following an accident at 10:50 a.m. Friday on Highland Avenue at Sherwood Drive.
MaryKathryn Frego, 17, of 15 Coventry Drive, Massena, was northbound out of the Massena Central School complex when she entered the Sherwood Drive and Highland Avenue intersection and was struck by westbound vehicle being operated by Durant.
Frego and Durant were both transported to Massena Memorial Hospital for treatment of neck and back pain. Police said passengers in each vehicle were uninjured.
Shortly after returning back to service from the first call, the three agencies were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Andrews Street in downtown Massena.
Police said Douglas A. Taillon, 68, of 133 Fisher Road, Norfolk, operating a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, make a left hand turn onto Andrews Street from the parking lot near the fire station when he called into the path of a vehicle being operated by John R. McDougall Jr., 73, of 11 Liberty Ave.
Taillon was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way when entering a roadway following the 11:44 a.m. crash.
Taillons vehicle suffered front end damage, and McDougalls 2010 Dodge Avenger had significant damage to the drivers side of the car.
