CANTON Several businesses near Main Street and Riverside Drive lost power at about 3 p.m. Thursday after an accident involving a worker and a utility pole.
The Syracuse-based electrical worker was treated for minor injuries.
An engineer with the state Department of Transportation said the worker was in a utility truck when the live powerline fell onto his vehicle.
The operator stayed in the machine, said Thomas Maroun, who is overseeing the construction project.
Mr. Maroun said the accident occurred while workers were raising a pole to construct a temporary traffic light. The light will serve as a detour for Route 11 during the summer contruction months.
National Grid workers restored power for businesses at the Riverside Drive-Main Street intersection in less than an hour.
