CAPE VINCENT — To give potential home-buyers an opportunity to tour local properties for sale and learn about Cape Vincent, the community is hosting a townwide open house Sunday.

Elisabeth P. “Liz” Brennan, village trustee and event organizer, said 20 to 30 properties will be open to visitors from noon until 3 p.m.

But before people venture out and poke around town, Ms. Brennan is urging them to stop by the Cape Vincent Community House on Market Street, pick up a map with listings and talk with representatives from various community groups.

Refreshments and pastries will be provided at the event headquarters.

Town, village, Chamber of Commerce, school, youth club, clinic and development corporation officials will be there to answer questions, she said.

“I’d love to have families with younger children move here. Cape Vincent has one of the best elementary schools in the region, and if you want a small-town atmosphere with a beautiful setting, look no further,” she said. “I think Cape Vincent is also an inspirational place for artists, not just because of its historical setting and natural beauty, but also because of the art gallery and our international piano competition.”

The event is an effort among the village, town, Cape Vincent Local Development Corp. and real estate agents.
