DEFERIET Village Department of Public Works Superintendent Michael T. Bigness announced Sunday that the village has lifted the state of emergency for its water supply, but asked residents to continue conserving water until today.
According to a released statement announcing the decision, the village confirmed through its engineers and the state Department of Health that it had a three-day supply of water available. The village filled its water tower Sunday morning, which made village officials comfortable that their water supply was adequate.
The village had been in a state of emergency since May 22, following the May 19 failure of its second water pump that had been running alone during renovations to the villages first water pump.
Repair work on the second well will be finished today or Thursday.
