Watertown police are investigating a possible abduction attempt that occurred early Friday afternoon in the citys Stone Street parking lot.
Detective Sgt. Joseph R. Donoghue said a female victim was injured after a man approached her vehicle just before 1 p.m. and struck her. The victim, said to be a downtown worker, was taken to Samaritan Medical Center for treatment of what Mr. Donoghue described as minor injuries.
Mr. Donoghue said he was not certain if the woman was walking toward her car at the time of the incident or sitting inside it, but that at some point the assailant got into the vehicle, making police unable to rule out that the action was an attempted abduction.
Mr. Donoghue declined to say if the assailant said anything to the victim before striking her. The assailant was last seen running from the parking lot toward Sherman Street. Mr. Donoghue said he is about6 feet tall, with sandy-colored hair and is wearing a dark shirt and dark pants.
