PORT LEYDEN Lucas Weaver, 25, Turin, was charged Friday afternoon by Lewis County sheriffs deputies with a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving and multiple traffic infractions after deputies said they saw him driving his motorcycle at speeds reaching 130 mph on Route 12 in and around the village of Port Leyden.
The speed limits in that stretch of Route 12 are 35 mph and 55 mph, deputies said.
After deputies lost track of the 2005 Honda on East Main Street, they later found it, with the help of the public, in a wooded area behind a residence on Wildcat Road. They also found Mr. Weaver at the residence.
He was charged with speeding, operating out of class, driving without insurance, not using a turn signal and unsafe passing. He was released to appear in Leyden Town Court.
