Watertown police arrested a city woman early Friday after she allegedly placed 12 live goldfish in a frying pan and cooked them until they were dead.

The alleged actions of Jessica L. Baughman, 21, of 518 Stone St., stemmed from a domestic dispute she had with her roommate, Vera E. Nichols, police said. Miss Baughman is charged with the felony of aggravated cruelty to animals, fourth-degree criminal mischief and harassment. She was detained in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building to await arraignment in City Court.

Police documents indicate that about 6 p.m. Thursday, Miss Baughman broke a wooden statue belonging to Ms. Nichols and also removed the goldfish from their tank, placing them in the frying pan.

About 12:35 a.m., her fight with Ms. Nichols resumed, and Miss Baughman is accused of pushing the roommate down onto a bed, police said.
