I've spent the last few days poring over the Watertown Daily Times' archives, trying to figure out who Jeff Graham and Jeff Smith are.

The men are vying for the mayor's chair in the Nov. 8 election.

I came across this 2008 story. I'll post it in full for your irony enjoyment:

Watertown Mayor Jeffrey E. Graham was bitten on the arm Wednesday by Ozzy, a St. Bernard who lives on Thompson Boulevard, while soliciting signatures for Rep. John M. McHugh, R-Pierrepont Manor.

"It wasn't real bad, just a puncture in the arm," Mr. Graham said. "I've been to that house before and never had problems."

The mayor said he was "patched up" by Millie C. Smith, wife of City Councilman Jeffrey M. Smith. The couple are physician assistants at QuickMed Urgent Care Center, 727 Washington St. The mayor was back circulating nominating petitions Thursday on Washington Street.
