MASSENA Add karate to the list of upcoming program offerings in the Massena Central School Districts CASP-E-R program.
CASP-E-R, which stands for Community and School Programs-Education-Recreation, allows residents to take part in activities in the districts facilities.
The program first was offered in 2010. Programming, with the exception of the high schools fitness center, has been on summer hiatus, but is expected to resume in mid-September, program coordinator Cynthia M. Yager said.
The sessions, which will be run by the Massena Karate Club, will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays in the high school auxiliary gym. Junior classes for ages 7 to 16 will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and adult sessions run from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m.
The cost is $25 per month for the junior program and $30 a month for the adult program. A second family member costs $15 a month and a third family member is $10 a month. Yearly association dues, payable in January, are $5 per student.
The class will offer rank testing on a quarterly basis. Test fees are $15 for yellow/orange, $20 for green/blue and $25 for red/brown. Uniforms will be available for $25, payable in advance.
