HAMMOND — Verizon Wireless is expanding coverage in the western corner of St. Lawrence County.

New sites in Gouverneur, Hammond and Heuvelton will improve coverage and capacity in Brasie Corners, Lake Pleasant, Chippewa Bay, Pope Mills and portions of routes 12, 37 and 58, company officials said.

The services include Verizon's high-speed wireless Internet for cell phones and computers, with average downloading speeds between 600 kilobits and 1.4 megabits per second.
