WANAKENA — A family well-versed in the ways of the woods, land-use regulations, building codes and the workings of government has formed a consulting business to help clients with projects in the Adirondacks.
Adk compliance is the brainchild of Christopher L. Westbrook, his wife, Susan N., and his brother, Timothy J.
Christopher Westbrook, a licensed surveyor, is the director of the Ranger School and president of Clifton-Fine Economic Development Corp. Mrs. Westbrook was formerly an account clerk at the St. Lawrence County Highway Department. Timothy Westbrook, an architect, was the owner and general manager before his retirement of CODE Inc., New York City, a building code consulting and expediting firm.
"I was looking for something to get involved in when I was up here. We were brainstorming around the campfire, actually," said Timothy Westbrook, who spends summers in Wanakena. "It really kind of came out of that notion. A year later, here we are."
Adk compliance will help clients with regulatory requirements within the Adirondack Park, and help set up a way for their projects to comply with environmental concerns. The company will work with homeowners, businesses, developers, community organizations, municipalities and utilities.
Making sure a project meets all legal requirements can be time-consuming or require follow-up.
"It's not a difficult process, but it can become frustrating," Christopher Westbrook said.
Adk compliance will have some set fees or may charge by the project.
