Ortiz earns modified feature win

LAFARGEVILLE — Jipp Ortiz won the SUNY Canton sportsman series feature Saturday night at Can-Am Motorsports Park.

Ortiz took the lead early and held off Ryan Susice and Dylan Evoy in the 25-lap main event.

Justin Barger edged Jeff Cook in the Empire Super Sprints 25-lap feature.

Jordan Keruskie won the 12-lap crate late model feature. Chris Thurston was first in the 15-lap IMCA modified feature, and Robert Martin was the winner in the 12-lap thunder car race.

■ Alan Johnson had to first fend off Brett Hearn and later Jimmy Phelps to win his first Super DIRTcar Series victory Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway. Phelps finished second and Hearn took third.

Watertown drivers Tim Fuller and Frankie Caprara finished fourth and sixth, respectively. Billy Dunn of Watertown was 16th, while Rob Bellinger of Dexter was 23rd.

■ Otto Sitterly notched win number two on the season Saturday night at the Oswego Speedway in the supermodified feature.
