CHAUMONT — Robert B. Burkard, 47, of Springfield, VA. and a summer resident of Mill St. Chaumont, died Sunday June 28, as the result of an auto accident in the Town of Clayton. He was born January 12, 1962, in Watertown, the son of Stephen F. and Jane E. Walrath. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1980 and Jefferson Community College in 1982, with an Associates Degree. Robert moved to California to work for Contempo Casuals from 1988 to 1996. He moved to Springfield, VA. in 1996 and worked for Unisys Corp. in Reston, VA. from 1996 to the present as a project manager for their defense contract division.
He married Tammy L. Lane, May 28, 1988 at Stone Presbyterian Church, Watertown, with the Rev. Bruce Smith, Pastor, officiating.
Surviving are his wife Tammy L., a son Zackary at home; two brothers and their wives, Wynn G. and Denise Burkard, Adams and Gary and Tracy Burkard, Long Beach, CA; three sisters and a son in law, Kathie M. and James D. Strader, Watertown, Linda J. Burkard, Irvine, CA. and Christine J. Olley, Watertown; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A sister Nancy Lou Burkard died before him.
Robert was a member of, PMI, Boat USA, the Brador Appreciation Association of Springfield, VA. and was an avid fan of the New York Rangers Hockey Team. He was a member of the Messiah United Methodist Church in Springfield, VA.
Burial and memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Funeral Arrangements are with the Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown.
