A motorcyclist who Watertown police say drove more than 100 mph with a passenger on Washington Street late Sunday afternoon was jailed Tuesday under $1,000 bail.

Travis M. Jordal, 32, of 29736 Route 3, Apt. 4, Black River, was arrested Monday evening by city police and a deputy sheriff at his home. Police listed 16 charges against him, including second-degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving.

Police alleged he was exceeding 100 mph in the 500 block of Washington Street at 5:14 p.m. when Officer Eric J. McLane attempted to halt him. He maintained that speed into the 1100 block of Washington Street, when Sgt. Michael J. LaBarge ordered patrols to back off from the chase. The passenger was identified as Roxanne E. Cunningham, same address.

Other charges lodged against Mr. Jordal are two counts of speeding, two red light violations, driving at a speed not reasonable or prudent, failure to comply with police orders, unlawfully fleeing police, failure to keep right, improper use of lanes, unsafe passing, using improper license plates, driving out of class and operating an unregistered and uninsured motorcycle.

He was arraigned Tuesday before Watertown City Judge James C. Harberson, who sent him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.
