CANTON — United Helpers and Canton Day Care Center will celebrate the beginning of construction of Maplewood Campus on Thursday.

The groundbreaking ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the building site off State Street will be followed at 11 a.m. by a reception at Best Western University Inn.

The complex will replace United Helpers Canton Nursing Home with eight cottages for 96 skilled-nursing beds and four for 48 assisted-living beds. Canton Day Care, which rents space on Commerce Lane, also will move to the site.
