HEUVELTON — A celebration of life service for Robert Eugene Simmons, Heuvelton, will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Amvets. Burial with military honors and a fly over by the Air Force will be at 11 a.m. August 24 in the family plot in Purmont Cemetery, DePeyster. Arrangements are with Frary Funeral Home.

Mr. Simmons enlisted in the Air Force in 1970. On March 29, 1972, while fighting a mission during the Vietnam War, the AC130 Spectre plane he was on was shot down by enemy forces over Laos. He has been listed as MIA/POW since that date.

Donations may be made to the Robert E. Simmons Scholarship Fund, care of Cherie Stevens, P.O. Box 146, Hamilton, N.Y. 13346. The scholarship is awarded to future military recruits.
