SMITHVILLE — One of Smithville's assistant fire chiefs is hoping somebody comes to his rescue by returning some of his turnout gear.
His boots and pants, to be specific.
Robert J. Burnham said they apparently fell out of the back of the department's rescue truck Thursday during a round trip to Westcott Beach State Park.
Responding to an 11:35 a.m. call to assist a couple of fishermen stranded in a boat, the Smithville truck traveled on County Route 75, Ridge Road, Route 3 and Flat Rock Road, he said. Returning to station, the volunteers took Brodie Road, Dunbar Road and Route 75, he said.
The finder is asked to call Mr. Burnham at 408-4522. The pants are tan with orange stripes and red suspenders, and the size 12 black bunker boots have his initials carved on the inside.
