Clark captures Syracuse district junior golf title

Ryan Clark, 14, of Adams Center, recently captured the 14 and under crown in the Syracuse District Golf Association Junior Championships.

Clark, who plays high school golf for South Jefferson, defeated Mark Finley of Christian Brothers Academy 2 and 1 in the boys finals, hitting 13 of 17 greens and playing 4-over-par golf through 17 holes at Drumlins East in Syracuse. Clark beat CBA's Josh Rathbun 3 and 2 in the semifinals, tapping in a 10-inch birdie putt on the 160-yard par 3 16th hole to clinch the win.

He qualfied second in the 36-hole two-day qualifier with a score of 162 (21-over-par) at Dutch Hollow Golf Course in Auburn and Drumlins West in Syracuse. Clark then beat Ryan Bonk of Marcellus in the first round of match play.
