An Adams Center man has been indicted on 18 charges for his alleged role in three separate crimes.

George W. House, 36, of 18110 Jefferson Courts, Lot 15, faces six counts each of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen properly and petit larceny, two counts each of second-degree forgery and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and single counts of second-degree identity theft and first-degree falsifying business records.

The charges were contained in a grand jury indictment handed up Thursday in Jefferson County Court.

It is alleged that on Dec. 20 and Dec. 26, he forged the name of Sharon D. Roberts, Watertown, to her paychecks and cashed them at Watertown Savings Bank. Both checks were in the amount of $62.81. The victim was his co-worker at Davidson's Motel on Route 3 in the town of LeRay, sheriff's deputies said at the time and it is alleged he stole the checks while working there. Video surveillance at the bank helped identify him as the alleged forger, deputies said.

He is also accused of assuming the identity of Warren Severs, Warwick, by using a credit card number belonging to the victim to buy $707.06 worth of goods sometime in either December or January. Deputies said he obtained the credit card number also while working at Davidson's.

It is further alleged that, while working at the motel on Jan. 2, he falsified business records to conceal a $60 theft. According to police, he collected payment for a room, but never properly recorded it and pocketed the money.
