ALEXANDRIA BAY — Two people were injured in a personal watercraft accident Friday evening on the St. Lawrence River near Hopewell Hall on Wellesley Island, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Initial reports were that the craft hit a stone wall.

An agency spokeswoman said the accident involved two people on the same watercraft. Both the operator and passenger were taken to River Hospital. Two state police helicopters were called to Maxon Airfield on Route 26 to fly the injured people to a trauma center.

The Coast Guard spokeswoman did not know the extent of the injuries as of 10:30 p.m.
