More than a dozen properties owned by companies tied to Alexandria Bay developer P.J. Simao no longer are in arrears.
Mr. Simao said Wednesday afternoon that he has paid the $77,140 in back taxes to the city comptroller's office. An after-hours call to the city for verification was not returned Wednesday night.
The 14 properties owned by companies he is associated with were included in a sales certificate auction held by the city last week.
Among the properties in arrears were Shorty's Place, 1280 Coffeen St., the former Super Shoes, 940 Arsenal St., and Ives Hill Country Club. Shortly after purchasing the 18-hole course in February 2007, Mr. Simao extensively renovated the clubhouse, pro shop, kitchen and bar before reopening the course later that year.
